6” aluminum seamless gutters have a better look and appearance when installed at your home, they also protect better your fascia board since they are wider and bigger, being wider means they hold 50% more water than 5” aluminum gutters, making them better suited for steep roofs, longer and larger roof areas, heavy and fast rainfalls, avoiding water over flowing or just skipping falling into your 5” aluminum gutters due to speed and steepness of the roof. 6” aluminum seamless gutters are wider the 5” aluminum gutters making them less prone to clogging or over flowing, they are also easier to clean than 5” aluminum gutters having wider openings, making them easier to remove debris and dust.

They will protect your house from mold, mildew, stains, water damage and flooding, channeling the water away from roof and walls into your designed spots around the house, deck and yards.

The Dayton area receives around 41” of water every year, not having the proper gutter system can lead to disaster, the right amount of downspouts is also crucial to divert the water from your roof to the ground away from foundations, basements and  decks, protecting your walls from rotting, color deterioration or stains cause by the minerals in the water, protecting your basements from flooding and your fascia boards from rotting.

Are gutter guards worth it?

We don’t recommend gutter screens due to some debris like pine needles, dust, shingles gravel, etc., finding their way into the gutters and requiring once or twice a year clean up. There are many types of gutter guards that we like, specially the double layer screen gutters. Choosing the right gutter guards depends on your roof slope, if you have any big and wide roof areas, if your house is one, two or three stories high, the types of debris your gutters collect and  how many trees you have around your house. We can give you a free assessment of your roof, house surroundings and kind of gutters you have to recommend the type of screen gutters you need and cost.

Is very important to determine the kind of debris your aluminum gutters gets (leaves, dust, gravel from the shingles, small branches, pine needles, etc.) to invest in the appropriate gutter guards system.

Disadvantages of installing gutter guards.

Is true they can help preventing debris from entering your aluminum gutters, they can also in winter time cause water to freeze over gutter guards and form ice dams, depending on the gutters guards you have they can let in leaves or dust causing the growth of moss and algae, sometimes small branches or leaves can stay on the top of the gutter guards causing the water to miss the gutter, there is a possibility of some debris , seeds or dust still finding its way into the gutters and clogging them eventually after years of this happening.

Even with gutter guards installed is recommend it an annual inspection to see if any debris sits over the gutter guards and ensuring the gutters and gutter guards are working properly. While they reduce significantly the cleaning of the gutters they still need some maintenance.
